Lauren Farquharson is an accomplished classical accordionist, having studied under the tutelage of Gerry Kelly for over sixteen years. As a solo artist and as a member of ensembles and orchestras she has participated in numerous competitions and concerts both in Ireland and abroad, performing in countries such as England, France, Belgium, Poland, Switzerland and Italy.
Throughout her studies she as held the position of orchestra leader with the K&S orchestra, received the high achievers award for her Grade 8 RIAM exam in which she was selected to perform at the RIAM High Achievers Award Gala Concert in 2014. As a soloist she has won the All Ireland Accordion Championships Senior Recital section 2016 and placed second in the UK Accordion Championships in 2015. As part of an accordion ensemble she was placed eighth in the Trophie Mondiale in Switzerland, which was the first year Ireland was represented at this competition.
Lauren has also completed her undergraduate studies in DkIT with their Applied Music Course specialising in solo performance with the classical accordion. Currently she is completing a masters in DkIT with her research focused on the development of the classical accordion.
Having recently joined the quintet Hibertango in 2018, Lauren is immensely enjoying being immersed in exciting repertoire that Argentine Tango offers.
